Cheese rule!
Saturday, September 22, 2007 @ Schools~;.;
Yep haven been blogging much lately, cos schooling has started and its tiring me out;.;
Started sem 2, modules learned this week: Immunology, genetics, cell culture and molecular and cell biology.
Immunology: First problem, please kill meh;.; I can't absorb much about the immune system, and I speak like a machine gun as always during the powerpoint session. Teammate change the slides in the last minute, and my mind went blank when it comes to my turn to present zzz. Perfect, a C for my grade that day:/
Genetics: Interesting! Talking about the X and Y chromosome, dominant and recessive. Guys are the ones to blame if they expected a baby boy but out pops a baby girl!! Never ever blame girls!!:/
Short lesson: As you know girls had XX chromosome, guys had XY chromosomes. Either one of the X from the mother and one of the XY from the father will tell you the gender of the baby when its born. Since there are 2 X on the mother, for a baby boy to be born, the Y chromosome is important here. So its like a 25% chance on a boy, 75% on a girl.
How people got their eye colours? dominant and recessive comes once again, including the chromosomes. So for example, if brown eyes = dominant, black eyes = recessive, the person who is born will have brown eyes. What if both are dominant? Hmm in daily lives, people might have seen cats which have 2 different eye colours. Cows have white and black patchs on their body, that will be a co dominant whereas for pink flowers which comes from the mix of red and white flowers= incomplete dominant. Ookay dont want to elaborate more -swt- NEXT!
Cell culture: me love the first problem!! It's about cloning:P As you guys know scientists have tried cloning mammals over the years. First would be dolly the sheep, then later on, mouse dogs cats pigs etc. But theres one thing they had been trying for so long but failed. A human. So teams have to dabate about this. Should humans be cloned, or not?
My team is the judge here, so we just had to see who had given the most points for the teams that is for or against the idea. Pros and cons of cloning humans.
Pros:
Organ transplant: since cloned humans will be exactly the same as the original human, there won't be any rejection if a organ transplant surgery is being done.
Cloned a dying baby: The parents will still have their baby as if its never died due to the exact tissues, DNA's etc in it's body.
Cons:
Lives might be harm or in danger during the experiment.
People felt as if the scientists are playing God if humans can be cloned in the near future.

Debates are still going on this world, and theres another thing that comes to mind, should cloning be under the category: legal or illegal?
If cloning is legal, scientist might go overboard and clone so many things that in the future, clones will take over humans etc.
If cloning is illegal, scientist will have to make do of other experiments, but without cloning, we are unable to resurrected or revive extinct or endangered animals. Okay no more about this module, NEXT!
Molecular and cell biology: This module, I really hate:/It's kinda similar to genetics, but further more in depth. This is more about differentiating two different people, like example, the woman claims that the boy is her son, but to others, they are not mother and son. So they used a analysis to check the DNA's of the woman and the boy. Can't further on elaborate cos I can't absorb the problem-swt- but using a blood analysis is a simpler way, but also inaccurate, example: if theres a family of 5, one child is adopted, and the parents blood type are A+ and B+, theres no way to know which child is the adopted one, since the child can be in 4 different blood groups: AB, AO, BO, AB. A more further in depth analysis has to been given out to this family. Example will be short tandem repeats(STR), which me not gonna explain cos I kinda flunk on this-swt-

So overall, modules I like this week, genetics and cell culture:P I have to improve on the rest;.;

Besides school, of cos theres other stuff in my daily life ya?
But all in all, I'm only gonna say, things have been clarified on thursday and friday. Problems might be solved. I've speak out my thoughts. To those who know about this, hope you guys won't ask me about it:) Yep Ivy, knowing right from wrong, I can't do it. It's always the feelings that counts ya? For me, feelings overcome logics and what is right or wrong. Heard some stuff the other day about what you said to someone, maybe your right, maybe your wrong, afterall, you did say, I'm simple yet complicated, yet I can't even understand myself. The one who makes a deep impression on me, you should know who. The one who understands me the best, you should know who too. Guy or girl, its one of them.
Stopping blog here, had to go work later;.; so yep laterzz guys!:P
